Yin/Yang combines a 90 minute yin yoga practice, followed by a 90 minute yang vinyasa style. Class will begin with a series of held, yin postures. While surrendering into postures for 3-5 minutes, practitioners are guided in the observation of breath and thoughts, leading to a more contemplative, non-reactive quality of mind. With these long-held passive poses, it helps to open the body to more flexibility and experience the release of stagnant energy. When the yin portion is complete, students are invited to move into the space that was created through a more active, dynamic, yang style of vinyasa. This portion of class will focus on strengthening and invigorating the body and mind. The practice concludes with a deep and final relaxation, the ultimate posture of surrender, savasana.
